UNTIL YOU ARE SURE, TAKE IT SLOW AND EASY DEAR DORA

0 Comments | Taos News, The, Jul 8, 2010 | by DOROTHY FORBES

Dear Dora,

I recently met someone and he took a large interest in me, but I find myself wanting to get back together with an old boyfriend of mine who I can’t seem to let go of. Usually people say “leave it in the past” but I can’t seem to, which is holding me back from becoming serious with the other guy. What should I do about this?

Mixed Emotions

Dear Mixed Emotions,

The old adages “leave it in the past,” and “never go back” do indeed hold some weight. In my experience I know of zero, zip, nada happy endings when it comes to getting back together with an ex.

Given however, that this is just me, and anecdotal evidence should be taken with a grain of salt. Some relationship experts maintain that some of the most functional relationships occur when two people have had the courage to split, work on themselves, and return to the relationship more whole and healthy.

The fact of the matter is, people do change, timing syncs, and the cosmos align. Which side of the fence your relationship falls, remains to be seen.

If I were in your shoes, I would take a very honest look at the following things: Why did you and your ex breakup? Why did you really breakup?

Don’t tell yourself the story that you like to tell yourself to make yourself feel better and don’t tell yourself the story that you like to tell yourself to make yourself feel awful.

Tell yourself the truth about the relationship. What was your part? What was his part? What would you do differently? What do you wish he would have done differently?

The next thing I would consider is how long you two have been apart. If it’s been anywhere in the ballpark of a couple hours to three months, it’s only natural that you wouldn’t want to start anything serious with someone new.

It’s simply too soon! If it’s been between three to six months, depending on your relationship, how deeply you felt for him, and the circumstances of your split, it may still be too soon.

After six months, research suggests that we start to return to ourselves, we start being honest about what we did to contribute to the good and bad parts of the relationship, and we also start to honestly heal from any wounds the relationship may have caused. Now, obviously everyone is different so these timeframes are general, but the point is, if it hasn’t been that long it’s natural, even good, to take your time moving on.

If it’s been a rather long time and you still can’t shake the feeling that your ex is somehow suited for you, and you’ve done an honest inventory of your relationship and have come up with nothing significant enough to send you running to the hills, then (sigh) you may have some unfinished business. The annoying thing about unfinished business, be it an ex or your inbox, is that it tends not to go away on its own.

In fact, in my experience, it gets bigger, louder, and more obnoxious. That said, I’ll fight adage with adage. The best way to avoid temptation is to succumb to it.

I know, please excuse my audacity for going against age-old wisdom, but if thoughts/feelings for your ex are stopping you from moving forward, you may as well find out why. I offer this advice because I’ve been in the same boat as you, and circumstances allowed me to reconsider an ex, which having done so, I was able to move forward without constraint or regret.

You know that before huge developmental bursts occur, we often “regress” to behaviors that we’ve long outgrown. Likewise, you may be getting ready to burst forward, start anew, and you need to be sure you can leave the past in the past.

Or, you may be rekindling something that is meant to be. Only time will tell

Bloodstained clothes of baby Lillian shown to murder trial

0 Comments | Yorkshire Post (Leeds, England), June 17, 2008

The bloodstained clothes of nine-month old Lillian Entwistle were shown to jurors in her British father’s double murder trial in America yesterday.

A forensic scientist held up the heavily stained white sleepsuit worn by Lillian when she was shot dead in her mother’s arms at their home in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.

Her father Neil Entwistle denies murdering her and his 27-year-old American wife Rachel.

Entwistle did not look at the suit and polka dot pyjamas as they were held up less than five feet away from the jurors, instead staring straight ahead at the judge’s bench.

His mother Yvonne, from Kilton, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, collapsed in her seat at the front of the court’s public gallery as the bloodied clothing was displayed.

Her husband Cliff, a Bassetlaw district councillor, looked away from the evidence and held his arm around his wife’s shoulder as she cried quietly.

Entwistle’s younger brother Russell, who sat next to his parents, leaned forward in his seat and looked down at the floor as none of the family looked at the clothes during the 50-minutes in which they were on display.

But Rachel’s mother Priscilla and stepfather Joseph Matterazzo looked directly at the witness box as the suit was held up. The couple held hands but remained composed throughout, showing little external emotion.

Earlier, their daughter’s blood-stained green shirt and floral underwear were clipped to an easel at the front of the court in Woburn, Massachusetts as forensic scientist Deanna Dygan explained how they were both stained with blood and semen.

Entwistle’s DNA was found on the grip of the .22 Colt revolver used to kill his wife and daughter, an ammunition container and a gun lock, while the DNA of Mrs Entwistle, who had no interest in guns, was found in and on the muzzle, the court heard.

The jury has heard that a post-mortem examination found Mrs Entwistle was shot in the forehead at close range and Lillian was killed with a bullet which passed through her abdomen and lodged above her mother’s left breast as she cradled her in the four-poster bed in the master bedroom of their home.

Assistant District Attorney Michael Fabbri, prosecuting, has said Entwistle had a secret life in which he trawled the internet for escorts and viewed websites about bankruptcy, killing and suicide before killing his family.

He faces life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted of the double murder.

Baby Lillian was shot at point-blank range, Ms Dygan said.

She told the court that gunshot residue on the left chest area of the baby’s polka dot pyjamas came from a “contact shot”.

“A contact shot is a shot from a firearm, when the firearm is pressed directly against the target,” Ms Dygan said.

Elliot Weinstein, defending Entwistle, cross-examined Ms Dygan over what she saw in the master bedroom of the house.

“It was pretty obvious to you, scientist or not, that there was a pretty bloody mess there,” he said.

Ms Dygan agreed that she saw a “bloody and horrific mess” at the murder scene.

Earlier, she confirmed that she had written Entwistle’s name down as a possible suspect on field notes before arriving at the scene, but denied that this “coloured” her thinking “throughout the investigation”.

Ms Dygan also agreed that she described the bodies as she found them, and not necessarily as they were shot.

Windows offer a view to the outside while keeping heat and air inside.

At least, that’s how it is supposed to work.

For Douglas Burdett, his 1908 home in Norfolk offered endless character and charm set on waterfront property and nestled among trees. But it also came with an old heating and air system, and plenty of drafty windows.

“I had an energy audit done on the home and the results were eye- opening,” the 50-year-old said

Ex-Royal Navy sailor claimed Pounds 6,800 benefits while working as

0 Comments | Western Morning News, The, Jul 1, 2010

A former Royal Navy sailor claimed Pounds 6,800 in incapacity benefit while working as a car valeter, a court has heard.

James Dent, 35, of Brockhurst Park, Marldon, had previously pleaded guilty to not providing the correct information about his work status to the Department for Work and Pensions.

At Exeter Crown Court, Recorder Paul Derbyshire said he was “sad” to be sentencing a former member of the armed forces but he had no choice and all the money had to be paid back.

The court was told Dent had been discharged from the Navy on medical grounds and in May 2005 made a legal claim for incapacity benefit.

However between January 2006 and December 2007 he worked for three employers in Torbay while still claiming.

He worked for Audi South West in January and February 2006; for VG Valeting between March and June 2006; and at Tupman’s Mini between September 2006 and December 2007.

Prosecutor Nigel Wraith said a random check by the DWP discovered Dent was working for all three while claiming incapacity benefit.

When interviewed by police the defendant admitted he had been working but initially pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He later admitted three charges of dishonestly failing to notify the DWP of a change in circumstances while claiming benefit and a fourth count of making a false representation on an incapacity benefit form in August 2007.

The court was told Dent had already made repayments of Pounds 400.

Mitigating counsel David Charles said Dent, who now worked as a self-employed plumber, had not set out to commit a fraud.

He said: “He found it difficult initially to give up the safety net of benefit payments.”

A pre-sentence report found Dent was capable of doing unpaid work in the community. Recorder Derbyshire said: “It is particularly sad to be sentencing a former member of the armed forces in a city which is rightly proud of its military history.

“You have given good service to the country and were discharged on medical grounds.”

Dent was told to pay back Pounds 6,458 and complete 200 hours of community work.

You should place your most important keyword phrases first in your title, as some search engines limit the number of characters you can use. Make your title a readable sentence, as this is the first text that will appear for your listing on the results page. One thing you should avoid doing is simply listing keywords. This could be regarded by the search engine as keyword spamming, and may lower your search ranking, or even get your listing removed from the site. As with keywords, it is a good idea to give each page a unique title.

In your description you should once again make use of your best keyword phrases. In this case, you can use more of them, since search engines will give you typically around 1024 characters for the description, while they will give you only around 50 to 80 for the title. Again, place your keywords as close to the beginning of your description as makes sense.

In the text of your site you should make use of, yes, you’ve guessed it, your keyword phrases.
